AlgaBoost (+1000x) GSe base is a sterile, 2 part, concentrate of GSe medium base, for culture of marine microalgae. Its formulation is
modified from Loeblich's (1975) GPM medium by the inclusion of Selenium as published by Blackburn et al (1989) but exludes soil extract.
Makes:
800 litres seawater
+ 220 litres freshwater
+ 1 litre Part A
+ 10 ml Part B
1020 litres GSe Base
Nutrient Balance: When added to your seawater + freshwater mix (seawater : freshwater = 4 : 1.1 ) according to the accompanying
instructions, the combined parts of this formulation will provide the following nutrient levels:
Nutrient | Final conc per litre (g/l) |
---|---|
NO3- | 123 mg |
K+ | 93 mg |
PO43- | 15.8 mg |
BO33- | 32.5 mg |
Fe3+ | 0.3 mg |
Mn2+ | 1.2 mg |
Co2+ | 0.032 mg |
Zn2+ | 0.086mg |
SeO32- | 0.0013 mg |
Na+ | 3.7 mg |
Cl- | 12.7 mg |
SO42- | 0.126 mg |
Thiamine HCl | 0.1 mg |
Vit B12 | 0.001 mg |
Biotin | 0.002 mg |
To Make GSe base: Pour 100ml from the 1 litre bottle (Part A) into a sterile culture bag. Add 1ml from the 10 ml syringe of Part B. Add 80 litres of sterile seawater + 22 litres of sterile fresh-water. Mix and aerate and you've got 102 litres of GSe base
To Make Full GSe (with soil extract): Pour 100ml from the 1 litre bottle (Part A) into a sterile culture bag. Add 1ml from the 10 ml syringe of Part B. Add 0.5 litres of soil extract. Add 80 litres of sterile seawater + 22 litres of sterile fresh-water. Mix and aerate and you've got 102.5 litres of Full GSe medium
